We require a number of MQ Technical Analysts for roles within Infrastructure Services, part of RBS’ Technology function.
The MQ Projects team provide project delivery function to the majority of RBS Group’s MQ estate, including key services such as Bankline, MCS, SEPA and RMP. MQ infrastructure is deployed on a number of platforms - z/OS, Unix, Linux, iSeries and Windows. The team is responsible for the provision of technical services in their portfolio to ensure that projects are delivered to the level required in a professional and timely manner.
There is a high focus on continuous-improvement in the team, both from an infrastructure-performance perspective and also with Operational Standards and Strategy. The team also provides technical design services and guidance to projects allocated.
Role Responsibilities include
• Act as a single point of contact for Project Managers where allocated as a representative of the MQ Projects team
• Provide a guaranteed 2nd and 3rd level support service for all MQ related incidents in the event of failure or other subsystem-related problems
• Ensure that projects are designed to operate efficiently and cost effectively within the RBSG infrastructure
• Continually strive to improve the service provided to projects and where possible reduce the effort and time taken to deliver through service improvements
• Contribute to, influence and improve team standards and processes.
• Management of the variety of test infrastructure the team builds and supports to ensure that it continues to provide a high level of service, including awareness and adherence to effective risk management.
• Apply technical knowledge to resolve a range of incidents/problems within a project context in a timely manner to reduce delays to projects.
• Ensuring that a pragmatic and effective approach to projects being delivered into the MQ estate, and that they are well-designed and implemented to operate efficiently and within governance in the RBS Group infrastructure.
• The team work cross platform collaboratively on initiatives to reduce the overall number of calls being processed through the support team.
• Provide out-of-hours on-call cover to support the MQ environment and deliver projects when required.
• Undertake and deliver technical change and/or support, for relevant platforms, activities and processes relating to the area of specialist knowledge for Technology, either in the local region or globally.
• Provide efficient and effective low level component design, technical change, implementation and/or support of IT systems.
• Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders involved in delivery of service (on behalf of Technology) in the area of technical knowledge.
• Influence colleagues across RBS Group in an area of technical knowledge, ensuring recommendations are in line with the overall Technology and RBS Group strategy, standards and policy.
• Support the day to day running of RBS technology across the Group.
• Provide operational support for technology based services to the RBS end user community working within predefined end-to-end processes.
• Support a central point of customer contact and first/second level support using the incident management, change management and request fulfilment processes.
Essential:
Technical Criteria
• Significant experience as a MQ Administrator in a large and complex support environment
• MQ v5.1-7.1.0
• MQ features: Shared Queues, Clustering
• SSL Certificates
• Experience of Unix, Linux, iSeries and Windows (z/OS will be beneficial)
• Experience of working with third party vendors
Other Skills required
• Configuration, maintenance and delivery of MQ infrastructure
• Proven success in delivery of high quality, cost effective infrastructure services in a large, complex, high availability environment.
• Experience in a cohesive and collaborative approach with wide range of technical and non-technical staff.
• Proven track record of problem determination and problem solving skills
• Planning and Implementation
• Strong understanding of the critical business service
• Ability to deliver appropriate quality solutions under pressure
• Ability to communicate well, both verbally and written in technical and non-technical environments
• Willingness to help other colleagues and use knowledge acquired to improve team processes
• Ability to accept and manage a variety of demands on a day-to-day basis
• Excellent problem solving & investigative skills
• Cultural Awareness
• Hardworking, proactive, dedicated team member
• Strong English language skills
• Can work independently and as part of a group
• Conscientious approach to risk analysis and customer awareness

RBS have IT people in London (City) as well, if I recall. _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error. |
