Hello All,

We have a requirement where MQ should interact with HP 3000 hardware device. I guess its not possible for MQ to directly interact with hardware device.

But my prime guess is.,

1. A MQ supported OS (like MPE/ix) should be running on HP3000 h/w.
2. Along with, it should have RAM and enough local device space to install MQ client

Kindly confirm if my above guesses are correct.

Thanks in advance.

Hello ,

There was an old supportpack now withdrawn ,for the connectivity via
Mqclient on mpe/ix .
The link with the updated info is here :

http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bin/ssialias?subtype=ca&infotype=an&appname=iSource&supplier=877&letternum=ENUSZP04-0480#Header_73

So you could ask directly to the vendor about it .

I think the best approach would be to try and get some Linux running on the HP3000 hardware.

Outside of that, you might actually look at MQLight. It may be easier to get up and running using a "non-standard" development environment, since it's supposed to be developer-friendly. It's also supposed to be seamless to connect to MQ.

Note that I've included a lot of "supposed to". I've not tried it.

Also, I'm extremely surprised that anyone has an HP3000 still running. I last saw one in 1986 or so....

Dear all,

Thanks for the reply. As per your advise, i will try to get configuration details and check the possibility of mq installation. I am not sure mqtt installation would be short in space allocation compare to MQ client. Have not exposed much on MQ light as well.

An MQTT client can be as small as a single javascript library.

Generally, an MQTT client is going to be smaller than an MQ client.
