My requirement is to prefix and suffix "$" symbol at the start and end of every record .

I have file nodes here
I have used record detection as delimited in fileinput node and record is delimited data for fileoutput node

My file looks this way

1789879
14567890
123456
12345

and it has to be this way
$1789879$
$14567890$
$123456$
$12345$
.
.
.
.
.
.n

Help with what? You've said in the title you want to do this in ESQL and concatinating values is about as easy as it gets in terms of code. Inability to do this bodes badly for more complex tasks.....

If you're that uncomfortable with code, consider asking WMB / IIB to do it for you by defining the prefix & suffix values in the DFDL / MRM definition.

You can spend a lot of time sitting here waiting for a reply that you think is correct.

Or you can spend a little bit of time reading the answer you've already been given.

Or spend a little bit of time reading the documentation on the product you are trying to use, and experimenting.

It's your time. Spend it how you like.

Best of luck.
