I cannot find it in the KC and have not tried installing MQ V8 Client, but I thought I would ask if they provide runmqsc with the MQ Client now that it has the client switch and standalone switch (to work with CCDTs)?
It would be handy... And any other command that has client mode. |

Joseph,
runmqsc is installed on MQ 8 client only systems. It can be run as a client program connecting to a remote queue manager, or it can be run by itself connecting to no QM, in which case it is used to create local Client Channel Tables without requiring a QM. _________________ Peter Potkay

I would have thought this info would be in the "What's new" section of KC.
To bad they didn't include a switch to specify the ReplyToQ in case you wanted to use something other than SYSTEM.DEFAULT.MODEL.QUEUE. This would also be nice for MQ Explorer because sometimes you go against and old Qmgr that does not have the SYSTEM.MQEXPLORER.REPLY.MODEL queue.
I wonder if the -u will make the client connection to pre V8 Qmgrs as that user?
Like MQExplorer does on the connection properties. I have an exit on z/OS that will switch the MCAUSER after validating the ID/password with RACF (well SAF probably). Of course if the channel is not SSL, all that flows in the free and clear...
Also, I hope they add a switch to write the CCDT as back leveled versions. It will take forever to get all the clients upgraded.
Since the MQ client can now manipulate CCDTs, it would be nice if the MQ Explorer did it without connecting to a Qmgr. |

Joseph, for many of the reasons you just pointed out, we purchased MQSCX from MQGem Software. It handles all those things. _________________ Peter Potkay

The -u flag causes the runmqsc tool to fill in an MQCSP, so that can be sent to any version of the queue manager. It may not do anything with it if it is not V8 though.
Cheers
