Hi,
Has anyone successfully implemented an MQ AMS java interceptor on a WAS server for a JMS application? I am interested in the installation pre-requisites needed on the WAS server to get it all working properly.
We have WAS 8.5.0.2 on Linux which has an internal MQ RA of 7.1.0.2. This may require us to use MQ AMS 7.0.1 and not MQ AMS 7.5 with the WAS server. Our MQ server, where the queue manager resides, has MQ AMS 7.5 installed, along with the MQ 7.5 server.
In order to get the pre-requisites as listed here for MQ AMS 7.0.1 UNIX (MQ AMS Pre-requisites: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/mqams/v7r0m1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.mqese.doc%2Finstalling%2Finstallating_prerequisites.htm) do I really need to do a full MQ install on the WAS server?
Thanks for your time and help. |

You might as well do a full 7.5 client installation on the WAS Server and reference the client installation in your WAS.
Have fun _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Thanks for the reply fjb_saber...but I think with WAS 7 and up an external MQ Client cannot be pointed to within the WAS JMS app. Here is info that supports this:
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/prodconn/v1r0m0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.scenarios.wmqwasusing.doc%2Ftopics%2Fswg21316899.htm
Using the WebSphere MQ classes for JMS with the WebSphere MQ messaging provider
Previous versions of WebSphere Application Server could be configured to use the WebSphere MQ classes for JMS located in an external WebSphere MQ installation to connect to a queue manager by setting the WebSphere variable MQ_INSTALL_ROOT. In WebSphere Application Server Version 7, MQ_INSTALL_ROOT is only used to locate native libraries, and is overridden by any native library path configured on the resource adapter.
So, we cannot have WAS 8.5 point to an MQ Client - but that is not the issue here anyways...thanks for the thought though.
The issues are:
(1) What needs to be installed on a WAS server to obtain the pre-requisites for MQ AMS for a JMS app?
(2) Are we tied to MQ AMS 7.0.1.x since the WAS MQ RA is at 7.1.0.2?
Thanks for your time and help. |
