Is it possible to send a message that instructs the receiving customer to reset their sequence number? |

How would it get there, if the channel is down?
What happens when you reset the sequence of a sender channel? |

Yes, I agree with you. If the channel was down there wouldn't be a way to send the message. The VP of our department was reading about some other messaging software that had this feature and wanted know if there was any related feature of IBM Websphere MQ.

As the sending customer, you could reset the sequence number to 1 at your end. Or, the number given in your qmgr error logs. _________________ Glenn |

To answer this question fully I think we need to know the exact channels involved and the conditions on which the reset it required.
The vast majority of the time it should only be necessary to reset the sender end of the channel. In this case the MQ product send the reset request to the other side automatically so you don't need to independently tell receiver to also do a reset.
Cheers,
Paul. _________________ Paul Clarke
