Code:

 sudo apt-get install libstdc++.so.6

will fail because "libstdc++.so.6" is not the name of a package.

A simple google search for "libstdc++.so.6 in Ubuntu" leads me to

http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?searchon=contents&keywords=libstdc%2B%2B.so.6&mode=exactfilename&suite=lucid&arch=amd64

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions.
