crtmqm command returns a 101 return code when it does not have enough space on /var/mqm partition. But MQ Series documentation only has the following return codes:
0 Queue manager created
8 Queue manager already exists
49 Queue manager stopping
69 Storage not available
70 Queue space not available
71 Unexpected error
72 Queue manager name error
100 Log location invalid
111 Queue manager created. However, there was a problem processing the default queue manager definition in the product configuration file. The default queue manager specification may be incorrect.
115 Invalid log size

I just checked one of our internal databases, and I found the following:
Cust installing MQSeries for AIX and is receiving error 101. Detects this by the echo $ ? returning the rc101. Referred cust to the system management guide under CRTMQM option -lf LogFileSize. Cust reduced this to 64 and the crtmqm received the rc0. They will delete this queue manager, increase the file system, and recreate the queue manager.
I would guess that it is just a matter of time before the manuals get updated.....
