So, one of my WMB developers got an idea to deploy a flow with 1000 instances (or something like that). Of course, we get this error before getting near the target number of threads.
I'm not fluent in all the ins and outs of MQ for z but I'm trying to understand what parts of the configuration influence this "maximum number of connections".
My concern is that Broker DFEs are "started tasks" and so the number of them should not be more then the number of CPUs assigned to the LPAR. In my case, that is five. If we had a lot of flows, I can see having 1000 threads (not all on one flow).
So, what are the key parts I need to read up on?
Yes, I have been searching... |

I would have thought that in "bindings" mode, MAXHANDS would hold the max number of threads allowed per single process... the default <= 2**8 _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Just saw a different post that made me think... MAXHANDS is 256 (default) on my z Qmgr. So, does that mean a DFE can only have 256 threads? |

Hi ,the parameter defines the maximum number of handles available for
a single process ,you could modify it dynamically using an alter qmgr command or via the tso ispf Mq interface . |
