Hello all,
I am a new user to this forum, and I must say that I am impressed.
For some background info, I am a Java developer who has already used JMS and message driven beans. I have been asked to write a document explaining a strategy on implementing JMS into a messaging framework using MQSeries and the MQSeries classes for Java.
The application is very well developed, however, they believe that JMS may be a more suitable solution which includes using message driven beans in the container. Now these are my questions (some may be pretty basic to you MQSeries guys)
1)Is the best solution to use the MQSeries classes for JMS? I believe so, and do you believe that it is complicated to integrate these classes into a well developed and loosely coupled messaging framework which already uses the MQSeries classes for Java.
2)They wish to use Websphere 5 for message driven bean support, are the MQSeries classes for JMS included in Websphere 5, or are they also in a support pak (such as the one for MQSeries 5.2, MA88)
3)Have not read about the MQSeries classes for JMS, does anyone have any links to the javadoc of these classes or other information about them. ARe they difficult to use, easy?

It is highly recommended that you use JMS to integrate your Java applications with MQSeries rather than AMI. In fact, I think going forward IBM plans on ceasing updates to the Java AMI and only supporting the JMS interface. JMS is not a big departure from AMI however, so you shouldn't have any issues porting over to JMS if your application is already using AMI. There are some subtle differences however; some of the more arcane or obscure functions in MQSeries are not supported by JMS (while they are available in AMI). I can't remember any of these exceptions off the top of my head, but the list is pretty short. As far as documentation goes, I believe the MQSeries: Using Java Manual contains documentation for both AMI and JMS...
