Hi,
I am trying to create a system DSN for to access remote oracle database. I have given necessary details like hostname, port, sid, username, pwd ..but when I try to check the connection using TestConnect buttion..it is giving below error-
ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol Driver ORACLE TNS-12505: TNS: Listener couldnot resolve SID given in connect descriptor.
I re-checked that I have the right SID only still it is giving the same error.
As per Infocenter, I have also done edit REGEDIT for the created DSN and created WorkARound and specify the value as 536870912.
The driver I have selected for creating system DNS is: Websphere Message Broker DataDirect Technologies 6.0 64-BIT Oracle Wire Protocol.
In order to verify the parameteres like hostname, port, sid, username and pwd.. I have tried connecting from Squirrel SQL Client..by selecting Oracle thin driver..It is connected with the same parameters. But, through system DNS the connection is not succeeded.
My target Oracle database version - Oracle database 11g Release 11.1.0.0
Broker version is - 7.0.0.3
Kindly help me out in resolving this issue. |

Is your Oracle server registered with SID or Service name? By the error message, Oracle listener is running and responding your ODBC client. |

I am not sure Oracle Server is registered or not. I have got hostname, port no,sid, username and pwd. I have tried connecting using Squirrel sql client with the same parameters..it is connected..but to test connection at system dsn it is throwing error. |

Sorry for not to be clear, but "registering" is an Oracle listener setting on database side. That's why I recommend you asking a DBA about this error.
Comparing with Squirrel SQL can be misleading because this is a JDBC and not an ODBC connection. |
