The code below is giving Syntax error. Please help me with how do I convert the date to Character.

DECLARE MQMD_TS CHARACTER;
MQMD_TS = CAST(InputRoot.MQMD.PutDate AS CHARACTER);

Further I want to do something like this,

MQMD_TS = CAST(InputRoot.MQMD.PutDate AS CHARACTER) + CAST(InputRoot.MQMD.PutTime AS CHARACTER);

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

The 'format' clause of the cast will do what you want.
you could have searched this forum for the answer just as easily as posting a new question here.
There are dozens of posts here that would have helped you.

It's working now. I forgot the SET keyword

I am new to MB... Hence the mistake
