Running WMB 7.0.0.5 and WTX 8.3.0.3.
I'd like to get some opinions on the level of risk of performing deployments onto production brokers whilst files and MQ messages are potentially being processed by the brokers.
Assume the following:-
- File and MQ message throughput is negligible at time of deployment (but not zero)
- Flows that process MQ messages are transactional. i.e. One LuW end-to-end.
- Flows that process files are not transactional.
Does anybody out there understand the "graceful" controls applied by broker before the deployment commences ?
Finally, I know WTX nodes don't carry LocalEnvironment in to out, is that indicative of a partial commit by the flow that splits the LuW ?
Yes, testing will firm up my ideas, but would appreciate some of your expertise too please. |

Best time to deploy. Impact will be negligible. However prudence would tell you to wait until file processing is completed before deploying a file based flow... IIRC the flow finishes the current instance before being replaced...

I would expect no impact but possibly on SLA there.

This is why best practice tells you to wait for no file activity. Potentially stop the flow and await completion of current instance.

Not to my knowledge. WTX is mainly used for transformation. Why would you expect that to contain a commit anywhere?

Testing is the quickest way to make sure your requirements are met. _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Flows complete current instances and don't start new ones until deployment is complete. |

Thanks both for your quick replies, it's given me some good food for thought.
Testing next - the completion of current instance was the important bit. |
