Hi experts,
we need to reduce the CPU performance in DMZ Production server and Testing server in order to reduce cost to the client.
In one of DMZ server, there is dual core processor, we can reduce into one core processor based on the message flow of MQ.
Request your help for the above mentioned operation and we were planning to apply the same on intranet servers (QA and Production)

how can anyone here in the formum answer the question, if your servers are oversized or not?!? i think its up to you to answer that.

I think the OP is asking how to tie WMQ to use a single CPU, but I'm not sure...

If you want to reduce the capacity units, then disable one of the cores.
I'm not quite sure where it's done from - but it should be documented somewhere - if not ask your local IBM rep.
There is probably some AIX command (or equivalent) that can do it.
If it's a LPAR then presumably you just arrange to allocate one core to the partitition instead of two.
However the whole area of licensing and capacity is quite complicated and best to take advice from your local IBM specialist.
It's not something that you can turn on or off in WMQ itself. |

The sad thing is that the OP may well spend more trying to reduce the cost of an MQ License than they might save the customer.
An MQ license is 80$ US per Processor Value unit. An entry cpu is probably 70 PVU's per core. $5,600 per core. (Prices correct at the time of writing) and that is not without any discounts you might be able to extract from your IBM sales person.
You could easily end up spending $5,600 replacing the Dual Core CPU with a single core system if you include the parts and labour.

we are using windows server 2008.. and i need to know for this Reduce CPU Performance.. what to do as a MQ Admin..
What can i do as a MQ Admin for this CPU performance reduce ? |

You can't install a single physical core.
You can disable one of them though (I believe).
