Grail Software Solutions are pleased to announce GSS API Player Starter Edition, Beta Version 0.0.1.
This is an Eclipseâ„¢ RCP application designed to help educate end-users on IBM Messaging APIs. An example of an end-user could be a developer or tester of a WMQ application.
This beta version of the API Player can be used to perform real-time testing of various calls of the Message Queue Interface (MQI).
This initial beta version of the API Player can be used to:
- Connect to a local queue manager
- Test the API calls (MQCONN, MQDISC, MQOPEN, MQCLOSE, MQPUT, MQGET, MQSUB)
- View the results of a call
- Load results to play again within the same session
- Save results into a (sequence) file which can be loaded in a different session
- Manage sequence files
- Set user preferences
This beta version of GSS API Player will expire after 30th June 2014.
As this is a beta Version, not all features have been enabled or implemented yet. Some of the additional features that may be included in future versions of the API Player (in no particular order):
- Allow a sequence file to be played
- Control play of a sequence file (set breakpoint, stop on error, etc)
- Show status of all handles and structures
- Support for client connections
- Support for more MQI calls and parameters
- Create code snippets for various languages from the results (e.g. Java, C, C++, Cobol, PL/I, etc)
- Support different API's (e.g. JMS, REST, MQ Light, etc)
- Provide a simple subscriber application to make it easier to see publications
- List objects to choose from, e.g. queue names for the MQOD structure
- List selector attributes for MQINQ and MQSET based on the object type
- List local queue managers for MQCONN
- Use connected queue manager details to control call selection and parameter values
