I want to replace an old aix serverwith mq 6 on new hardware with mq 7.5
Is there a method to keep the same qmid so there is no cluster issues. I am being cautious in case we need to back out and turn on the old server. |

Sort of...
Shutdown the V6 qmgr and copy the /var/mqm/qmgrs/<qmgrname>
and /var/mqm/log/<qmgrname>
and ensure the mqs.ini file has a stanza for this Qmgr (like copy the mqs.ini).
Then it will migrate on the 7.5 machine when you start it. Never start it again on the old machine. Here I'm assuming this is the same OS from old to new server. If not, this will not work for you.
Of course, I'm assuming UNIX here but it would work for Windows too. |

OK, should work. Just tar the directories of the Qmgr, move the tar and untar. You might want to build a test Qmgr first and ensure your install and initial setup is correct first. Then delete it.
The CHLAUTH will not be on as this will be a migrated Qmgr, until you turn that on. |
