Dear MQ-Gurus,
I'm trying to do - what I thought to be - an easy task...
I have a running MQ-Server installation (Solaris / MQ V7.5.0.2),
to which I would like to add the client components.
So I follow the steps in “Installing WebSphere MQ server on Solaris”,
as the client needs to be installed from the Server-DVD (including
./crtmqpkg suffix steps).
I want to add the package to the existing installation, so I chose
/opt/mqm:
And this is the error I get:
ERROR: WebSphere MQ with package name "mqm" is already installed at "/opt/mqm"
Installation of <mqm-mqclient> was terminated due to user request.
Now I agree on that. But I would like to add the client components into
the existing installation (as it could be done on earlier releases?) and not into a second installation.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You already have a package, so just use pkgadd |

Thanks a lot mqjeff,
you saved me from re-installing the whole package...
So I tried 'pkgadd' first without removing the maintenance package, which gave me the same error again. But then after removing the maintenance, it let me choose the desired option (makes sense).
Everything is fine now: Client installed and maintenance re-applied.
Thank you very much again for your help,
Hans |
