Hi there,

we try to define a message with the following structure:

Header1
-----------
Header2
----------
Choice:
Body1
Body2
none of Body1 and Body2
---------

The problem is that the choice compound type could have Body1 or
Body2 or none of them. It is possible to define a choice compound type
on level upper like this:

----------
Choice:
Element1
Element2
----------

where Element1 is defined as

Header1
-----------
Header2
----------

and Element2 as

Header1
-----------
Header2
----------
Choice:
Body1
Body2
---------

But is that the only way to implement this? Thanks for your hints.

Regards

Hi,

Take a look to the redbook "Developing solutions in WebSphere MQ Integrator" where you could find some example of how to implement this kind of messages.

Cheers,

If the application that is creating the message is willing to put a counter or indicator in the headers, you could make Body1 and Body2 occur depending on those counters. For example then if Cntr1 was 1 that would tell you Body1 was present, if it were Cntr2 was 1 Body2 was present and if it they were both 0 none would be present.

We used this concept for a project where we had an unknown combination of segments coming in on one message and those segments might occur more than once.
