Am running WMQI 2.1 CSD03. Checking a trace I see that a Warehouse node evaluates 'BITSTREAM(InputRoot)' as X''" on a simple incoming XML message. When I use a Compute node evaluation is correct for 'BITSTREAM(InputRoot.MQMD)' and for 'BITSTREAM'InputRoot.XML)'; I can also concatenate the two and insert the result to my 'MSG' BLOB column, achieving what the Warehouse node should be doing. However in the Compute node also 'BITSTREAM(InputRoot)' fails to evaluate.
Is there a problem with this function or am I missing something in the manual?

I should qualify my original post by noting that the Warehouse node generates 'BITSTREAM(Root)' while the usage in the Compute node is 'BITSTREAM(InputRoot)'. The result however is the same for both. The 'MSG' column is defined as 50000 bytes, but for the testing the incoming message including MQMD was only about 420 bytes. I have read the Readme sections re BITSTREAM but do not see that they are applicable....but maybe they are?

Hi Tony,

There is a regression in WMQIv2.1 CSD03 with the BITSTREAM function.

The symptoms match what you have described here in that BITSTREAM(Root) and BITSTREAM(InputRoot) evaluate to X''.

There is an efix avaliable for WMQIv2.1 CSD03 on all platforms under the defect (APAR) number PQ66348.

Suggest you contact your IBM support team for this.
