How long is a piece of string

Seriously, support will be a lot easier if you break the code down into logical parts and put them in separate files. I don't mean go crazy like some Java fans where any class that is longer than say 20 lines needs to be subclassed but be reasonable and what your organisation is comfortable with.

I've seen a veritable spiders web of a flow with more than 100 nodes in it. Maintenance was a nightmare. Follow the KISS principle and you won't go far wrong (IMHO)

AFAIK, No[/quote]

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions.

1. If using ClearCase, the vdiff command will fail after 400 characters on the same line. Other than that, you should allow the toolkit to manage your ESQL files and not try to manage them yourself (why do you want such a low-paying job anyway ?) For each Compute node you drag to your canvas, you should have one ESQL file.

2. No defined limit. Although good design will indicate that if your flow looks like a spider's web, you've done something wrong. From a single screenshot, you should be able to conduct a peer review. If you have to scroll all over the place, that also a good indication that you're not thinking clearly.

3. No. If you need a second port, then you need a second EG. True performance testing on PROD-equivalent hardware will tell you when you need a second EG. If you're on z/OS, your better off moving to a different platform.
