Hi all. I have a small problem that I am not getting addressed anywhere:
Is there a program or script available for WinNT to convert EBCDIC to ASCII? I tried using the SupportPack from IBM called 'Q.exe' (MA01) for retrieving/placing messages from/into the queues, but haven't heard from anyone if the Q.exe supports the GMO_CONVERT option.
The support side of the incoming channel refuses to add in CONVERT(YES) for their sender channel, so the change must be done on our 'receiving' side. I am not a programmer (just a server administrator) so I don't know how to create a java or C++ code to do the option inside of the MQGET. I was wondering if there is already a program/script on the market that does this already?

The support side of the incoming channel refuses to add in CONVERT(YES) for their sender channel, so the change must be done on our 'receiving' side.
The Sender channel side does the conversion not the RCVR

Correct.
We are only using MQ for a one-way connection: they send from MVS server, we receive on WinNT server. We use IBM's Q.exe program to extract from the Order Queue (via trigger) to an output file. We then pass the output file to an OBDC process on the server to connect to the MS SQL database on another system.
The developers/adminstrator on the MVS side refuse to place the CONVERT(YES) on their sending channel, so we have to do the conversions from EBCDIC to ASCII ourselves. Yes it sucks, but that is what my director wants done.

Well did the application developer at least set the mqmd.format to string
because you could then do the MQGET with convert.
