Hi,
Could anyone tell me when the MA88 supportpac page on the IBM web site put int the pre-requisite for MQseries 5.2. I checked it approx 2 months ago, downloaded MA88 and am working with it successfuly on MQseries 5.1.
However now it is quite explicit that 5.2 must be used.
In the readme file with MA88 it says 5.1 or 5.2
It was my understaning that to use JNI and XA I would need 5.2, but if not 5.1 would be fine.
Does anybody know which version of MA88 was last publicly support with 5.1 by IBM?
Also has anyone encountered problems using 5.1 with JMS?
Thanks |

The earlier versions of ma88 (V5.1.0) supported MQSeries 5.1 but with the release of ma88 (V522) they have recommended the use of MQSeries 52 because of two reasons maily:-
1. MQSeries V5.2 is required to make use of the performance improvements in MQSeries classes for Java Message Service V5.2.2.
2. ma88 now supports the MQ Event Broker V2.1 which requires MQSeries V5.2 and above.
I didnt knew that for using JNI one would need MQseries 5.2 because we have been using it with 5.1 with no difficulties.
IMHO, the latest ma88 support pac should run with the MQSeries V 5.1 without any problems.
Cheers,

I suspect the issue is that MQ 5.1 went out of service at the end of December 2001, and we can't support MA88 on an unsupported level of MQ. You can check the end of service dates from the service summary page:
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/ts/mqseries/support/summary/
I haven't checked all the platforms - if there are any where 5.1 is still supported then I'm guessing MA88 will be supported there too. If you have an enquiry about a specific platform let me know and I'll get the definitive answer from our service team.
I'd recommend the upgrade to a newer version of MQ if possible, a lot of work has gone into it between 5.1 and 5.3.
Cheers,
James. |
