Hello -
Heads up fellow Tandem MQ Admin's
I was informed that there is no planned support for the SHA-2 ( sha256 ) algorithm in Websphere MQ V53.x.x. I have created an RFE with IBM but doubtful it will do much good.
Our enterprise direction is to abandon sha-1 algorithm on all systems by year end 2013.

If the policy driving this is to move to solutions that are fully vendor supported, and that embrace newer technologies, your enterprise should be moving from mq5.3 to 7.x.

This is the part about 'embracing new technologies'.
Perhaps you can run some kind of linux execution engine (I suspect NSK doesn't call them LPARS or VMs, but that's what I mean by 'execution engine') on that NSK hardware that will let you run a newer level of MQ that can talk to the native 5.3 qmgr in your regular NSK engines. Then you know that all "unsecure" is contained within the same NSK hardware box, and you can use more modern encryption to leave the NSK box. |
