Over the weekend, one of my RSS feeds had an uncited blurb on it about the WMB version 9 footprint in which the product brand identity would include a composite footprint of both WESB and WMB; where the WESB product would fold up under the WMB identity.
I'm looking for the press release on this and don't seem to find it. Has anyone seen this press release? Impact is just around the corner and I would expect the announcement to have appeared already. _________________ http://leanpub.com/IIB_Tips_and_Tricks

Why would you expect an announcement *before* IMPACT? |

Someone goofed and released it too soon.
Many of us are just migrating to V8. Some of my customers are baulking at moving off V6.1 (yes they know about support etc). They take the attitude of
'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'.
One significant customer in a V.Large City on the US West Coast has given us a tentative date for a V6.1 -> V7.0.0.5 upgrade of 02:00-> 02:30 on a Sunday Morning in October. That is all the down time they will give us. If it don't work then we have to wait 6 months. There are no test machines. They are too much of a skinflint to have any.
I really don't want to be starting to talk about V9 to customers when none are using V8 in production. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions. |

On the one hand, it's nice that they don't subscribe to the "oooh, shiny!" school of product buying...... |

So you'd expect IBM to make all the annoucements before IMPACT? IBM's big announcement making event? It'd make the main stage a bit dull:
"Anyone here not seen the annoucement about <insert whatever>? No-one? OK, thanks for coming, enjoy Vegas" _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Some of us yearn for v8, and cling to the promise of a machine to run a proof of concept "Q4 2013". I have as much confidence in that as I do in other management promises.

Especially when they remain unmoved by the tangible benefits of v8 (DFDL, the new mapping node, record and replay, etc, etc). The waters do not need to be muddied still further. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
