Hi all,

During my studies, I encountered a question I couldn’t find an answer to, neither in the docs nor anywhere else in the web.

While working with subscriptions, one can use two types of message filtering:
1) Publish/subscribe with content-based filtering using Message Broker
2) Publish/subscribe using Selector in WebSphere MQ only

The first one is clear. Regarding the second one,
1) Can we filter the message using MQRFH2 header, especially the usr field (not just MQMD header) with execution group having content-based filtering disabled?
2) How else, in addition to MQRFH2.usr, can we store message parameters that we could utilize for filtering without using a Broker (with execution group having content-based filtering disabled)?

I’m talking about MQ v7.

I think you'll find that message properties have replaced MQRFH2...depending on your WMQ level of course.

Alright, but the question is still here: can I filter using MQRFH2 header fields without enabling execution group’s content-based filtering — that is, by means of only MQ?

Yes. WMQ v7 introduced MQI-level support for SQL92 selectors for pub/sub- or JMS-created messages.
