hi
I had installed MQ 7.5 as a local stand alone without connecting to any domain controller. The websphere service is running using default MUSR_MQADMIN.

My question is, say I create a Queue manager (and queues + brokers ) locally, how would the whole system be affected if I Prepare the MQ to join domain with a domain account later on? Will the Queue manager be un-usable and need to recreate? OR everything would be working as normal?

thanks

All you should need to do is run the 'prepare WMQ Wizard', specify the domain special account and away you go.

All done after you have joined the domain.

hi thanks. that means to say, as long as the domain account is an "mqm" group or "domain mqm" group, there should be no problem accessing and doing stuff with the Queue managers already created locally. right?

NO NO NO and once again NO, or possibly no.

The Infocentre gives detailed instructions on exactly how to setup the MQ domain account. It needs certain domain privs in order for it to verify the users that connect to the QMGR. If the requirements for setting these have been followed to the letter then yes, you might, repeat MIGHT be right.

If the prepare wizard fails the reasons are logged in a file. Examine it, google for the answers and eventually you will get there. THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS to setting everything up correctly before you try to run the prepare wizard. Even then you might get a failure the first time around. Running it again works.

If the account details for the MQ Installation service have been changed to that of the domain account then you are close to success.
