Hi,
I have installed websphere MB trial version and followed 'Websphere Mesage broker' redbook to setup initial configuration.
Clicked on Help --> Welcome --> Get Started --> Create default Configuration --> Start default configuration wizard
.. a wizard started, it created default message broker and default mq manager but failed to create default execution group. I couldn't identify the error.. can someone help please ?
Message broker version : 8.0
MQ Version : 7.5
Error on the popup :
Task: Creating the default execution group. failed.
If you can manually fix the issues that caused this task to fail, do so and then click Retry.
If you click Retry, the wizard starts the task again.
If you click Roll back, the wizard rolls back all completed tasks, if roll-back is possible.
To establish why the task failed, examine this wizard's log file which can be found in the workspace
directory [C:\Users\srinivasa.thamma\IBM\wmbt80\workspace\.metadata].
Error from log :

I have not created a default configuration for many years!
You have my sympathy as I could imagine myself if I were an absolute beginner. In trying to help you, I even go through the process of creating a WMBv8 default configuration. Yet mine has been created successfully but I notice that I use a 64-bit version whereas in your case it is a 32-bit version(?) Have you reviewed the prerequisites?
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/prodguid/v1r0/clarity-reports/report/html/softwareReqsForProduct?deliverableId=1281962721693&osPlatform=Windows#fixpack-Server
By any chance that you're trying to create the configuration in Windows XP 32-bit? It could be a red herring but did you install the products using a Windows Administrator account for the local machine? Is that the same account you use for creating a default configuration? Is the machine has some spare disk space/memory etc.? There are so many variables that could cause the failure. Have you checked the Windows event viewer? Do try to give more information.
P.S. As you've mentioned in your other post that you were trying to use the redbook 'Websphere Message Broker Basics' as a guide but unfortunately that book was for V6 whereas you're using V8 of the product.... I admire you for trying to gain knowledge on your own but perhaps a formal class is needed here? |

Thanks a lot for your comments.
Longng, I rechecked the configuration.... uninstalled and installed again with 64 bit versions of MQ and Message broker. Default configuration was setup in minutes... I have yet to continue but want to take a minute to thank you for your help first...
I am following the very old documentation as you said which is 'Websphere Message broker basics'.. I couldn't find much on internet... if you do know any please direct me ....
Again thanking you...

Please do check out the Samples and Tutorials that come with the product. You'd be surprised to find out how much you can learn from those examples. As the title suggests, some tutorials actually come with detailed instructions and explanations!
From the Toolkit, select Help->Samples and Tutorials
Have fun! |
