Seems WMB V8 on z/Linux will only accept compiled message flows... And yes, I sure did search the IC for this answer...

Is these true? If so, will it always be true?

And if so, when you create an mbtest test case (like for a service), how do you tell it you want that stuff compiled?

Always a curve ball...

Ensure that the runtime library system (RTLS) for the broker is turned off in the default options of the Language Environment for the system. This setting is required because the broker code is compiled using XPLINK, and XPLINK applications cannot be started while RTLS is active.

z/OS will always be the odd duck.

Pedantically, zLinux != z/OS

But z/OS is unique (or if you prefer the odd duck) of operating systems. I freely conceed that.

Each new Broker version since the first zLinux on v6.0 brings it closer to behaving like other Linux/Unix machines. There is hardly any difference with MB8. Biggest issue I've seen so far is the MB8 runtime install forgot to include the IE02 support pac (for ODBC connections) even though the documentation says it's included. Easily remedied post-install once realized.

Oh, and thanks for the info above on the RTLS

You're welcome. The odd duck reference was directed at the OS rather than the runtime.
