It seems that when I run a VB app using MQ client (v5.2) with an MQGET with a long or infinite wait, some other apps on the client - especially Acrobat reader, hang while mqget is waiting. The cpu is not getting pounded. Does the client interfere with other running processes? (client is NT)
Are the other apps truly unrelated to your MQ app? If you have a GET with wait, while your MQ call waits, it has control over the app that actually issued it. If Acrobat reader can't open until your app ends, maybe that is the (non MQ) issue?
I have run lots of other apps while another MQ app has been waiting.
Try using AMQSGETC on an empty queue. It has a get with wait. (10 secs I think) Do your other apps have a problem while AMQSGETC is waiting? Or only your app? _________________ Peter Potkay
Keep Calm and MQ On
Quite right. Amqsgetc doesn't hold anything else up while it's waiting. VB probably has hold of something. The program is doing the MQ work during form load - maybe it has hold of things down in the bowels of the VB runtime or NT itself. But enough non-MQ talk.
