Hi all,

The MQ Admin guide says that you can change the number of logs files for a qm. How is this done ?.
I thought that you changed the LogPrimaryFiles in the qm.ini file and re-started the qm. However when i do this the number of log files in /var/mqm/log/QM/active remains the same as it was before.

Any help would be much appreciated

Stuart

I think you will find that the additional primary log files will be created when they are needed and from then on will remain.

Chage the value in the QM.INI for the queue manager, and restart. IBM recommend that you have a small number of large files, rather than a large number of small ones - but unfortuanately, you need to rebuild the queue manager to increase the size. It's nice to give advice about your product that is inconvenient or impratical to do, isn't it?

Stuart,

- stop the queue manager
- create a dummy queue manager with necessary log parameters
- modify your qm.ini
- jump into log dir (/var/mqm/log/)
- make a recirsive copy from <DUMMYQMGR> to <YOURQMGR>

In this way log files and control file (amqhlctl.lfh) will be changed.

Good luck

Tibor

PS: a backup is recommended...

Woops. Next time I'll read the question, then answer.

But Tonyd is correct, when MQ needs them, it'll create them.
