How can DEF SUB fail with 'Not authorized' when the user id belongs to mqm group? This has started happening on one of the queue managers on an AIX box. As a matter of fact it happens with all DEF SUB calls regardless of user id or destination queue.

OAM broken?

It's a bug!

What level of maintenance are you at?

What I did to get around it in the short term was to issue the command from a MQSC command window opened in MO71.

Try this to fix it :

First make any change to the default sub (this sets a value to the same as it already has, but it makes it update the object).

ALTER SUB(SYSTEM.DEFAULT.SUB) EXPIRY(UNLIMITED)

Second, restart the queue manager. The problem should now have gone away.

Thanks, zpat.

Defining subscriptions with MO71 works. The other trick doesn't seem to work.

You could not find the APAR number?

Sorry, can't find it. Maybe it never got that far, the PMR was open for three months!
