As the WPS (WebSphere Process Server) product is renamed to IBM Process Server, is there a plan to apply the same rule on message broker (IBM Message Broker)?...WebSphere in the product name is little misleading to the newbie's..always they get the wrong impression that it is on top of application server.

This is entirely the wrong place to expect a meaningful answer to this kind of question.

Product name changes are announced through Product Announcements. Those, oddly enough, always appear at 'www.ibm.com', not at 'www.mqseries.net'.

Despite the venerable gathering of posters we have.

Because those who know can't say, and those who say can't know.

What? You don't like the name? Your management doesn't like the name?

Internally, you can call it whatever you like. Quite a few end-user types insert an expletive following WebSphere, and preceding MQ.

Dear broker_new,

What mqjeff means is "Many people were somewhat surprised when MQ-related products were put under the WebSphere umbrella. But I myself have no information about any plans to rebrand MQ-related products."

I am fluent in Scarcasm-to-English translations.

And bear in mind, even if it's renamed soon, in another few years a new set of management will be in and eager to make their mark so it will probably change again...

I mean more particularly that nobody here can have any information about any plans to rebrand MQ-related products, or in fact any IBM products at all.

Anyone that could possibly have information about that would not and does not post here.

So there's absolutely no value in sitting around flapping our gums about it.

Also, really. A rose is a rose is a rose.

I believe is the quote as translated from the French. (If memory serves me well, from the Flowers of Evil)...

There are a number
of products the names of which
I've never been fond.

Well, yes. I'd vaguely thought it were some theatre wonk from the UK, but that's just my unreliable memory.

The greatest playwright in the English language goes into a bar to celebrate his latest triumph. 2 hours later he's drunk as a skunk & throwing chairs. The barman leans over the bar and shouts:

"Oi, Shakespeare! Get out! You're bard!"

Native British speakers & UK residents are invited to shake their heads pityingly. Other readers may look blank or not at their whim.

"Oi, Shakespeare! Get out! You're bard!" he wrote dryly.
