I have been hearing this term for a while in MQ parleys.
Let's say
If I am using code page 37 I recognize a set of characters and may not recognize a few others. Same case with any other code page.
If the code page is 37 on mainframe and 1252 on a PC and if I am sending messages from M/F to a PC then I can ask MQ to convert the messages from 37 to 1252. The conversion from one code page to the other may not always be perfectly possible.
I think the code page in the FDL means ASCII. When it comes to Workflow the best thing is not to pay any attention to it and be oblivious of that fact.

Venny is right. You should not worry about code page. 1252 means MS Windows character set. I believe it is there in FDL for compatibility later on when buildtime is available on other platorms.
If you are too interested may be folks in germany can answer.

Venny/Laze:
I am not sure you can be oblivious to code page. It may be true in some environments, but in the past I definitely had problems with Codepages when importing into AIX. And I believe I recently saw something in the IBM newsgroup that indicated that on Solaris you need to be carefull with some codepages. _________________ John McDonald

John:
So far on AIX I haven't had any problems with code pages. Though our system is not very huge, we have been moving FDLs on Windows and AIX.
I suspect you had problems with MQ Messages and code pages but with straight FDLs why would you have problems. If you are transporting FDLs by DB2 Connect then code pages may come into picture but otherwise I am not sure.
I am working with a Hispanic customer right now (yet to begin development) and I will anticipate codepage issues. And you are right, we cannot be oblivious to any fact or else it's sure to blow on our face

I probably should have added that this was MQWF V3.1 (A long time ago). _________________ John McDonald
