Hi,
We are having a problem ending queue manager on Tandem. MQseries version is V2.2.0.1. First we tried to end it usinf endmqm, and then endmqm -i, in both cases we get the following messages:
- Error getting PARM from SPI response -8
- Error excuting PATHWAY command 1018
- Error from shutdown 2 command 28743
The following processes were still running:
mqec
mqecboss
We also tried to end queue manager using endmqm -p, which didn't work always. Has is got anything to do with timeout configuration?
Thanks

Well, my guess for issues pointed by both of you is that there is still some application that is processing something. At least thats whats the case with ASIf. The Qs process is not dying because it is still processing something. And endmqm -i does not kill all processes until each application that is connected to the QM has ended gracefully. And hence, the above reasoning makes sense too. Because you have an app that is still connected or processing requests, endmqm -i does not work. But when you use endmqm -p everything comes to halt at once.
The above behaviour is not specific to Tandem alone. You should find the same reference in family manuals too.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

I agree with shemran. I do use MQ Series on NSK v. 5.1 with efix but no CSD yet. On the G06.16 OS, and I had the same problems with endmqm that both of you experienced. And it was because I didn't shut down all applications that have the queue manager open before issuing the command.
I now make it a policy to go ahead and do the extra step of stopping all processes that have my queue manager open, including any monitoring tools you may use. |
