Hello,
I am curious to know if it is possible to copy everything thats on a Broker(EGs,flows,DSNs,Config services etc) and create them on a different broker.
Here's the scenario:
We have two brokers running on MB7. Now we have decided to add two more brokers(with different names and on different servers) to reduce load and try to improve performance. So after I install broker and mq on the new servers and create the broker and the queue manager, I want to create all the MB and MQ objects that are present on the old brokers.
In MQ i can use the saveqmgr pac and create the queues and channels. But is it possible to copy the Broker components, config services etc and recreate them on a different broker? I looked into the mqsibackupbroker and restore broker commands but the broker name and the queue manager name shud be the same for these commands.
Please advice.
Thanks in advance. |

No, you cannot just copy files from one Broker to the other. You use your source code control system and your very diligent deployment practices to build, override, and deploy the bars to the new systems. _________________ http://leanpub.com/IIB_Tips_and_Tricks

the best practice is to create your brokers and EGs using scripts, and configure all of the properties and configurable services using scripts, and then deploy (or even build and deploy) all of your flows using scripts.
Then you can use the same scripts to build 'the same' broker with a different name. |

don't forget to put everything into source control once you have created the scripts. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions. |
