I have a Windows .NET application that was linked to the MQSeries API using amqmdnet.dll version 1.0.0.3. I have been able to use my application with versions of MQSeries up to 6, and I think it's even been used with 7.0. However, recently, someone attempted to run our app with MQSeries 7.1 installed, and I get an error that the type initializer for MQTrace couldn't be accessed. I think the error is because the versions of amqmdnet.dll are quite different between the old version and the new version (the new version is much larger), so I tried building with the new version of amqmdnet.dll, but it doesn't seem to want to run on my box that has an older version of MQSeries client on it.
Are these totally incompatible? I looked on IBM's web site, but I saw nothing that suggests they know of compatibility problems. Will I need to build different versions of my .NET application for every different version of MQ? _________________ Chaim Mattis Keller

you need to build the app with the version of the mqseries client you are running it under... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Yes, you need to compile your app against the MQv7.1 client. Fortunately, you can coexist MQ installs after v7.0, so you can install 7.0 and 7.1 and 7.5 on your dev server and build that way. |
