Hi,
I have installed and configured MIM on 2 servers hosted on Linux. I have successfully tested them for file locks and they seem to work perfectly well for oe active and one standby instance on Server1 and Server2.

I have now been asked if it is possible to add another standby instance on server3. I have given this a try and I'm unable to start a 2nd standy instance. Is the maximum number of Multi-instance managers a configurable parameter on MQ? Any help is apprecaited.

Server1: MQ on 7.0.1.9 ACTIVE (started with -x)

Server2: MQ on 7.0.1.9 STANDBY
strmqm -x QM1
WebSphere MQ queue manager QM1 starting.
A standby instance of queue manager QM1 has been started. The active
instance is running elsewhere.

Server2: MQ on 7.0.1.9
strmqm -x QM1
WebSphere MQ queue manager QM1 starting.
AMQ7274: WebSphere MQ queue manager QM1 already has the maximum number
of standby instances.

It's interesting that AMQ7274 is only officially documented for MQ v7.5.

I was not aware that the lab had made a decision to officially limit the number of instances, but AMQ7274 clearly says that there is a maximum number.

You need to open a PMR and discuss this with support.
