And has any of yous learned and gentle folks, during your long and illustrious career encountered an occurrence like we got a few days ago? I am much obliged for your analisys, comments and advice:
Our network (as networks sometimes do) had an outage that made the z/OS based queue managers (R7V1) stop communicating with the AIX (R7V1) counterparts ... and simmilarly our AIX queue manager would not talk to external queue managers of business partners, neither with MQ Clients on AIX or Windows machines.
Business functionality suffered: we expected that! XMIT queues started filling up, we expected that too, messages started expiring: naturally! In time, channels went into retry: happens!
But what we did not expect and cannot explain is that spontaneously, without manual intervention XMIT queue definitions changed from Put Allowed and Get Allowed to Put Allowed and Get Inhibited (stat time stamp was few minutes ago recent and NOBODY touched that thing). After a while the communication guys sorted what there was, we stopped/started the more obstinate channels and life returned to normal and magically XMIT queues went back, equally spontaneously, to Put Allowed and Get Allowed ...
Please tell me what this is! |

Working as designed and documented. When a channel stops, it is set to get inhibited. When it is started again, it will be set to get enabled. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Here at mqseries.net, we encourage the use of paragraphs.
I've edited the OP to demonstrate how it makes a post a bit easier to read. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
