Hi,

We are upgrading our MQ environment on Windows to AIX and from V 6.0 to V 7.1. We are planning to take advantage of the multi-instance queue manager for fail over. Applications running on WebSphere 6.1 app server connect to the queues on this MQ environment. Auto client reconnect settings don't seem to work since we are using listener ports in our architecture.

I am trying a work around to create a farm name on the F5 and point it to the 2 hosts running the multi-instance queue manager. Set up the farm to route traffic only to the active instance on the F5. This is working however the response time seem to be very slow compared to talking directly to the host. From the network perspective the Farm as well as the LPARs are on the same VLAN. It will be great if people who are using F5 for MQ load balancing can provide some pointers. It will be extremely helpful in the upgrade efforts. Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Prakash.

Have you checked on how this compared to using a channel table or the new conname form for the channel? You may have to switch from a "bindings" connection to a client connection...

What is slower than connecting directly? The fail-over completing or the act of PUTs/GETs to the qmgr?

Are you updating the MQ client on the WAS side?

@Saper - Thx for the reply. I am using client connection only. No, I have not compated this yo using a channel table or a new conname for the channel. I am not sure how to set this up int queue connection factory configuration on WAS 6.1.

@Infraguy - The act of PUTs/GETs is slower. I have not yet tried with using the updated clients for the connection. I will update the client on WAS side to MQ 7.1 and see if it improves the performance. Thanks for your suggestion.

Prakash.
