There is a program directory telling you about the SMPE stuff you need to perform for the installation, and after that there are procedures in the installation guide you need to follow.

it does not sound to me that you are familiar with installations on z/OS, so be warned, its more then just some google and follow that procedure found. you will need a lot of mainframe klnowledge and / or colleagues from differend appartments, e.g. z/OS Base, RACF, DB2 administration, MQ and so on.

Good luck.

There's no "video" because going from uninstalled to running would be about the length of the entire Lord Of The Ring Trilogy.

Everybody coming from distributed to z/OS is alarmed by the lack of a command prompt, and the lack of anything which acts like setup.exe.

Installation is less prespcriptive on z/OS (because of the lack of a tree based file structure) which makes it essential the WMB installation conforms to the standards established for your site. Just using examples you find in the manuals & on Google almost certainly will not work in your environment.

Assuming you can apply them yourself. For example, the InfoCenter contains information on security setup & needed commands. I'd be astonished and slightly alarmed if your security people allowed anyone else to run them.

You could always contract the install out to someone who has done it before.

to me it sounds like he is the one that wants to go for such a contract, thinking that a broker installation z/OS is similiar with unix aor windows and can be done with some google or forum queries or by going for a movie

@OP - but - well, good news, go to youtube and enter "websphere message broker" and you find lots and lots of videos. check yourself if one is related to the z/OS installation....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Informant! actually had some pretty advanced techniques that I have applied to many of my z/OS projects.

Except in the case of zLinux. In any event, if I posted the link to the WM643 Admin class, would anyone disagree? I think the OP would learn alot by attending the WMB Admin class. Also, the OP did not state what version she is trying to install. There is quite a bit of difference in the install procedure between 6 and 7 and between 7 and 8.

Apologies in advance for those that do not like training.

z/OS is a different OS (!) than zLinux, which is a Unix like any other that shares a hardware platform with z/OS.

Would it matter if they disagreed?

Training is great. Training is useful. Training does not answer every single problem one can encounter using the product and into that gap this forum fits.

Hence the link to a training course is not the answer to every post on this forum because the course does not contain every answer. But is much quicker and easier to paste and post than reading the post and attempting a more formed response. Which could legitimately include "get some training", as in this thread.

For people who are new to WMB, training is a good place to start to learn the basics. As mqjeff says often, this forum is not a training resource.

Many people start with things that are too complex for them. I think the OP may be one of those.

Many people are started off on things which are too complex for them. This is a management failure, and just saying "you need the training in this link" is likely to be met with "I know that, but I've already asked and there's no budget".

You think? Trying to learn z/OS by watching YouTube?
