For what its worth:

I was able to connect to a WMB 8 broker from a WMB 7 Toolkit.

I created execution groups and populated them without problems Short tests ran well.

Obviously that is not a promise that will always be the case, but it was what I experienced.

There's simply NO REASON TO DO THIS.

It's FREE to INSTALL AND USE TOOLKIT.

Yes, in general, you can use different versions of Toolkit to manage different versions of runtime.

BUT you can NEVER use *newer* features. And older features MIGHT BREAK.

There's No Reason To Do This! Use v8 Toolkit and MBExplorer to talk to v8 Broker.

Granted, since MBExplorer doesn't let you coexist - without a lot of ugly manual steps, you end up needing to use V8 Broker Explorer to manage v7 runtimes....

But it's much better to go BACKWARDS in levels than forwards.
