I'm having trouble installing WMB on z/OS. During the SMP/E Apply phase I get *errors on the linkage* of the MQCONN, MQGET...etc functions. I first specified the HLQ.SCSQDEFS dataset of my MQ install, then tried with override of the SCSQDEFS DD with HLQ.SCSQLOAD Dataset. Still did not resolve the linkage. Has anyone ever encountered this issue?

Perhaps something slightly more technical than "I get killed"? Unless your session is actually shooting a gun through your heart (in which case I commend your postmortem typing skills). System codes, error messages, linker errors, etc, etc?

To be equally clear, you did replace the literal "HLQ" with the correct High Level Qualifier in use on your site for the WMQ you're trying to use? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Check your DDDEFs in the target zone. There is a job during broker installation on z/OS that has to be run to create these DDDEFS. You have to replace some "HLQ" in that job depending on your installation to get the proper DDDEFS resolved to your datasets.
My Broker target zone contains a DDDEF SCSQDEFS, but not the SCSQLOAD. There are othery you need, e.g. SYSLIB, SCEELIB, CSSLIB, .... .... (MQ is not in the same zone).
But - as Vitor already mentioned - maybe your linkage problem is not related to the DDDEFs ... ?!? Please show us some details. _________________ Regards, Butcher |

In the program directory for WMBV8 (http://publibfp.dhe.ibm.com/epubs/pdf/i1305820.pdf) I followed Appendix D and did an automated JCL customization which took care of the HLQs in each JCL.
The error that I do get when linking is:
IEW2456E 9207 SYMBOL MQPUT UNRESOLVED. MEMBER COULD NOT BE INCLUDED FROM THE DESIGNATED CALL LIBRARY.
- That error repeats for MQOPEN, MQGET, etc. |

have you checked BIP8LMDD and the created DDDEF entries if this is what you expected? _________________ Regards, Butcher |
