One of the nice things about the previous versions of the toolkit was the fact that the ESQL Editor showed the line number and column position in the bottom right hand panels on the toolkit window.
This was really useul as when you deployed something and the failure was due to less than perfect ESQL, it tells you approx where in the code the error was.
You could then use the two together ho zero in on the errant code a bit quicker.
I see that it isn't there in my Toolkit windows. Is there any way to get it back? _________________ WMQ User since 1999

I'd suggest right clicking the left hand "scroll" bar in the ESQL window and selecting "Show Line Numbers" for the line numbers. Or Window -> Preferences -> General -> Editors -> Text Editors and selecting it there if you prefer.
Can't say I ever noticed column numbers & can't help. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Hmmm, the Java and Text editors in toolkit show the line/column but not the ESQL editor! |

If you right click on the editor and select preferences there is a check box for "show line numbers" and looks like by default it is unchecked and if you check it, it shows the line numbers. _________________ “Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”

Yes, but we're talking about the line number/column numbers shown (or not!) in the status bar at the bottom of the editor window. |

I guess that this 'missing feature' is down to Eclipse.... _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Well the Java/text editors display cursor position so I'd go for a bug in the ESQL editor plugin. |

I can approve this... it is in 7.0.0.1, but it is not in 7.0.0.3...
I think this is quite important... I am always looking at/for it when developing.
There is also missing "Read-Only", "Insert" and then the line-numbers/position(s), e.g. "12:13"...
So it seems as if like the editor's (a "view") status is not "published" to eclipse properly any more.
I think something in Eclipse changed (e.g. an API), so that this (information) does not (any more) find its way properly into the status bar (of Eclipse). _________________ Just use REFERENCEs |
