Make sure you are using NFS v4. Make sure you are using an NFS server that supports advisory file locking, and does not require mandatory file locking.
Make sure you can use amqsfsck successfully.
Make sure you have strmqm on both machines before you attempt to switch over.
As a side note, the word "dear" is used as a term of affection in most English dialects. It's not entirely appropriate for a business or professional setting. And this forum is entirely a professional setting. |

Mr. Rammer
I already use this link but I found this steps are not suitable for production because if the server one goes down then nothing will work as the server 2 point the mount from server 1. Is this right?
Mr.Mqjeff
thank you for your advise and please answer me the above question |

If properly installed and configured, MI will work for the precise reason you say that it won't. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

If you're right, what use is shared disk? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Here's a document worth reading: Testing and support statement for WebSphere MQ multi-instance queue managers.
Find it here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21433474 _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Mr.Vitor If I use Network attached storage this is good but the steps in the below link shows that server 2 will know about the shared disk by server 1 from his IP so if this IP goes down how will server 2 see the shared disk. Is this right?
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.mq.amqzag.doc%2Ffa70159_.htm
Server1:Discover the host name or IP address of server 1: ifconfig
Server2:Mount the exported file system /MQHA:
Start of changemount -t nfs4 -o hard,intr 192.168.217.130:/ /MQHAEnd of change |

You continue to believe that it is part of the correct setup to have the shared disk physically part of one of the two machines.
It must be on a *third* machine. |

hi experts
may be I didn't explain right and I didn't get you.
please can any one explain to me how this work
Server1:Discover the host name or IP address of server 1: ifconfig
Server2:Mount the exported file system /MQHA:
Start of changemount -t nfs4 -o hard,intr 192.168.217.130:/ /MQHAEnd of change
if 192.168.217.130 goes down or server 1 crashed how server 2 see the shared disk
note: this command written by IBM and this is the link

For testing purposes, you can just use two machines and share the file system between the two. It CAN be done this way. But like you said, if the machine hosting the filesystem goes down, then you will have a single point of failure. So, ideally this filesystem should be some kind of SAN, Network File System that is independent of these two. I am not a storage expert, so I don't know how this is achieved, but I think this kind of shared disk is common.
In the manual, the steps are mentioned just to use two systems so that people like us, MQ admins can set this up without the help of storage people.
Also, machine going down is not the only failure that can happen. There could be other reasons why MQ went down on that machine and everything else still continue to work. |
