Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade MQ to v6.0 from v5.3 on a solaris server. The version of solaris is 9. I see the following error during the install and then the install itself fails:

## Executing checkinstall script.
cp: cannot access /var/tmp/dstreAAALLaasW/mqm/root/opt/mqm/bin/amqiclen
An error has occured while copying amqiclen to /tmp,
please investigate before retrying the installation process
checkinstall script suspends

I checked the permission of all the folders and no issues on that front.

I tried doing the silent install also after setting the check dependencies to nocheck and still no luck.

The strange part here is that upgrade to v7.0 on the same server is working. But, at this point we have to be on v6.0 due to dependencies on veritas and sun cluster.

Any thoughts on this ...?

TIA

Are you trying to co-exist V6.0 with V7.0 on the same image?

I suspect the uninstall didn't go that well.

Restore the machine to WMQv5.3 using the system backup you took before you started the upgrade process then take another run at v6.

Why take a run @ V6. Isn't it out of support end of the year? Move directly from V5.3 to V7.0 or if you must V7.1

But as soon as the OP has got past those dependancies then I agree, move to v7.n

Well I'd like to challenge that dependency. Is it just a percieved one or is it a real one?

Check the umask setting for mqm and root. Root might be creating directories or files which mqm can't access. Check that /tmp has full rwx permissions for all users.
