Can the pub/sub functionality be used in MQ v6 without WMB? I understand that much of the pub/sub functionality has transitioned over to MQ in v7 but I am more curious about v6.

MB has never been necessary to do pub/sub.

MB has always provided content-based subscriptions on top of MQ based pub/sub.

In MQ v6 and earlier, MB did actually implement it's own pub-sub engine instead of using the pub/sub broker that came with MQ.

But that doesn't mean that MQ v6 and earlier don't have their own pub/sub broker.

Just that you don't want to use it...

MQ V6 goes out of support later this year. So maybe best to be looking at MQ V7 for new systems.
