Hello, I installed MQ 7 on windows server 2003 installed on VMWare using Vm player v 4, first without proper configuration of Domain Controllers and stuff (I did not use the wizard). And I could work easily and test a few messages, then I faced issues with Get Message Options, the message Id is the same but I got 2033; so I used MQ visual Browser (not typical, but hey it was there and mq explorer wasn't doing me any favor), since I can see the whole messages in the queues easier, but then I got 2035.
So I went back to configure Domain Controller and I created a new domain and a new Domain Controller as specified by the steps in the docs
/WebSphere%20MQ%207/doc/en_us/i_conf_win2000.htm

I got the following error:
An unexpected error has occurred while validating the security credentials of user 'MQ\Administrator'

Ensure that the network is operational, and that all required domain controllers are available.

I have three questions here, although I saw this issue in the forum, but I think I have different scenario as there is a vm thing added.

1- If I need to connect through a network to MQ without configuring Domain Controller (i.e. choosing the simple NO option at first installation)
will I be able to connect?

2- Is the issue with MQ visual browse caused by the missing Domain Controller? (not very straightforward question, but hey; maybe someone knows )

3- I forgot the third question so let's make it a big thank you for the help.
Ok, I remembered, might this error be related to the connection methodology, I have changed to bridged and nat but not host only and they do not work (I did not try host only because it's useless in my case, I want to connect from another pc).

Regards

No you havn't. It doesn't matter if the WMQ install is on a real machine or a VM image, how it interacts with the domain is the same. How the security works is the same. How the messages work is the same.

Thank you for the swift reply, of course you know better and you were right,
apparently it was a stupid reason, MQ was taking part of the domain name and not the full domain, thus the error.
For someone who might face it, you can check it under windows services logon as (I guess) and change the login credentials or method, then when the MQ wizard is started again it's gonna ask for fresh credentials.
