I run Windows XP on my desktop and have Windows MQ (7.01.07) installed. We use WIN MQ so we can do some IVP work with our primary support of ZOS MQ. I am a permanent telecommuter so I tunnel into our network via VPN connection. Something has changed in the VPN that’s causing some weird issue for MQ on my WIN XP desktop.
If I DON”T connect to the VPN and launch Explorer, all the functionality works fine via Explorer or runmqsc. If I DO connect to the VPN, Explorer launches but only shows the MQM (no other objects display). If I launch MQ Explorer before connecting to VPN, everything works BAU until I close Explorer and try to come back in.
When I right click the MQM and try a connect I receive:
An Unexpected error (2063) has occurred.
In the /QMGRS/mymqm/ERRORS:
EXPLANATION:
MQ failed to successfully complete a network operation due to the specified
error. If the error is encountered on systems that are part of a Windows 2000
domain it can indicate incorrect DNS or WINS configuration.
ACTION:
Ensure that your network is functioning correctly. On the Windows platform
check DNS and/or WINS settings to ensure that domain controllers, used for
authentication or authorisation functions, are accessible.

Clearly you're taking different network routes when the VPN is connected and when it's not.
It's not clear why the non-VPN route actually works, however.
That kind of sounds like the queue manager is open to the public internet. |
