Hello,

I was wondering if it's possible to retrieve a promoted property value in java. For instance, in an ESQL you can easily retrieve it by declaring an external variable like so:

DECLARE TEST1 EXTERNAL BOOLEAN FALSE;
DECLARE TEST2 EXTERNAL CHARACTER ' ';

Where TEST1 and TEST2 are promoted properties in the main flow. Then you can just play around with it as you like in the code.

Do you mean "User Defined Properties"?

A Promoted Property is just a property that has been exposed to a higher level of the flow, it tells you nothing at all about the nature of the property itself.

Review the documentation on the ESQL keyword EXTERNAL, and determine what kind of property you are thinking about.

Then review the documentation on the Java APIs to see how that matches or doesn't.

Thank you mqjeff for pointing that out. I was of course refering to UDP. It wasn't that difficult to look it up once I knew the term I've solved it.
