WebSphere Message Broker V8 has been announced.

We're planning to add MQ V7.1 support as a lifecycle activity after GA.
MB V8 has the same MQ pre-req as V7 (i.e. MQ V7.0.1) which should simplify migration. |

Can you speak to some of the bright performance enhancing features? Such as any special code that leverages the POWER7 architecture. Also, any changes to the Bar File Override process, such as a nifty namespace-like mechanism?

There are no new headline features for Power7; that's not to say there aren't internal optimisations... I'm just not aware of any. 
As far as general performance enhancements go, it's too early to say what the big improvements will be as we're still doing the analysis! Features to look out for includes a proper graphical mapper, which now uses efficient, natively deployed MSL maps rather than compiling to ESQL*. And problems with inefficient flows should be easier to diagnose now because of a new activity log, which tells you exactly what a flow or RM is doing (connected to a queue, put a message... that kind of thing).
There are some significant improvements to deployment. We now have separately deployable subflows and ESQL (which makes impact/change analysis a piece of cake), a full Java API for message flow development (so you could get the full end-to-end development and deployment lifecycle in a single script), and dynamic configurable services. You can also group your resources together into separately deployed and managed use cases, using the new applications and libraries feature which spans development, deployment and management.

Well I'm drooling. For a better reason than I normally do.
Separately deployable subflows are probably a reason to upgrade by themeselves.

While I applaud the new functionality and new found user friendliness...
I also fear that less and less new people will attend actual courses to learn how to properly handle all this function ...

Are WMB v8 and WMQ v7.1 available in IBM Passport advantage now?
PS - I think you should have called it WMQ 7.2 - easier to distinguish from 7.0.1..... |

I think it was usability guru Donald Norman who said that if something needs an instruction manual then it's too complex.
... Now, in the context of an integration middleware handling billions of business critical transactions per day I don't necessarily agree, but hey, what do I know. |

I think even Donald Norman would say that it's all well and good that the firearm is point-and-click, but if you don't know who you mean to shoot, then it's not much help. |

Not yet. We just announced today. We're slating delivery for end of the year, just like we did for V7, V6.1, V6.0 and V5.0.
As for MQ V7.1 vs V7.2, you'll need to take that up with Mark T... |
